Hand-painted organic urns

for a personal way of farewell

The loss of a loved one is often difficult to bear. A painful time begins for many relatives, in which countless decisions have to be made that would have been in the interests of the deceased person. This is often difficult for many relatives and does not make the grieving process any easier.

If cremation is planned, an urn must be selected. It is noticeable that the selection is often not very individual.

Das Urnenatelier wants to change this. We design colorful urns in unusual colors, because life is colorful and happy, so why shouldn't saying goodbye be too?! We want to help you find an urn that represents the soul of the deceased and celebrates their life. It is often comforting to know that the final resting place would have pleased the human being and that he or she can find himself there.

The process of creating a colorful urn

The base coat

The urns are primed twice by hand with environmentally friendly chalk paint.

The individual design

The urns are then painted by hand, stamped or stencil techniques are used.

The sealing

Finally, the urns are sealed with wax to protect them from scratches and moisture.

We are DAS URNENATELIER

We are Sandra Lindenberg and Michaela Couturier. We aim to create unusual urns that create a sense of home, not sterile designs but something individual, handcrafted that is more in keeping with the character of the deceased. If you want to know who we are and how Das Urnenatelier came to be, check out our section about us.

About Us

More about our organic urns

Das Urnenatelier stands for a new type of burial. We value sustainability and an ecological design of the urns. Our urn blanks are made of Arboform, a biodegradable natural substance that decomposes in the earth after about five to fifteen years. The blank urn consists of 100% renewable raw materials and is CO2-neutral. We use chalk paint for our colorful urns - these are environmentally friendly water-based paints with lime and natural pigments. Acrylic paint is also used for some urns. Finally, the urns are sealed with wax to protect them from scratches and moisture. All of our urns are suitable for burial in Friedwald.
